Can one have the best of two worlds: a content management system, as well as the traditional use of HTML, CSS and JavaScript?
To me, the answer is yes.
WordPress provides a content management system that allows users to manage their own content, while HTML, CSS and JavaScript remain fundamental technologies behind the web. WordPress itself is primarily PHP-based and works with a database, but the end result delivered to a browser involves the same fundamental web technologies that have been around for years: HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
That is where things become interesting.
With AI-assisted development, it is possible to create custom solutions around WordPress rather than simply accepting everything that comes with a large, general-purpose system. Depending upon what a business actually needs, there may be opportunities to reduce unnecessary complexity and overhead while still retaining the advantages of a content management system.
But technology is only part of the equation.
Don’t Forget the Human Side
No matter what technical obstacles we face going forward, it is important to keep the human side in mind.
Any marketing, SEO, audio or video content should begin with a simple question:
Who are you trying to reach?
Once that is understood, decisions about design, development, content and technology become much easier to make. A website should serve its audience rather than simply demonstrate how much technology has been used to build it.
Behind the scenes, there may be a database. There may be WordPress, PHP, JavaScript and other technologies. YouTube may be used to showcase your work. AI may help with development, content creation, audio or video.
But these are tools.
The people using them — and the people you are trying to reach — are what matter.
The WP / AI / YT Avenue
This is the direction I am now exploring with WP Solutions.
My focus is on custom AI-assisted WordPress development, YouTube as a means of presenting and communicating information, and helping people navigate the learning curve that comes with changing technology.
That also connects with ARC Web Instruction, where instruction and support remain an important part of what I do. A revision of this website is planned, once the work at wpsolutions.ca is well underway. AWI is where everything began, including my portfolio, which is now at arcolq.com.
A WordPress website is not necessarily something that is built once and then forgotten. It may need maintenance, correction, repair, updating, SEO, multimedia integration or changes as a business evolves.
The goal is to work together to improve your online presence while making use of emerging technology where it actually makes sense.
Technology changes — and businesses that depend upon online technology have to change with it.
You are not going down this road alone.
I am Learning, Too
My decision to head down the WP / AI / YT avenue did not happen immediately.
I have spent years working with web technologies, but I now have to learn new technologies just as everyone else does. AI is changing the way websites, applications, audio and video can be developed, and I want to explore those changes rather than simply watch them happen.
As I learn, you can follow along via both wpsolutions.ca and ARC Web Instruction.
You may discover something that you can apply yourself. And when something becomes more complicated than you want to handle, that is where I can help.
WordPress already allows a user to enter and manage content without having to understand everything happening behind the scenes. When something does go wrong, however, having someone who understands both the technology and the person using it can make a difference.
My background in PHP and web development also means that I am comfortable looking beyond the WordPress interface when necessary. AI-assisted development with tools such as Claude and PHP is one of the areas I am currently exploring.
You don’t need to know everything that goes into making a website work.
Part of my responsibility is understanding the technology so that you don’t have to understand all of it yourself.
Looking Back
When I look back at the work documented on LinkedIn, two things stand out immediately: my use of WordPress in 2015 and my instruction in basic HTML and CSS.
But there was more to it than that.
Starting in March 2015, I began doing voluntary work at VanCity; for six months, I taught Web Design and WordPress to people with autism. That included instruction in basic HTML, HTML and CSS, Web Design, PowerPoint and WordPress. Those experiences are part of the reason I see WordPress as more than simply a piece of software.
There is the technology itself — but there is also the person trying to use it.
I certainly don’t claim to know everything. Nobody working in technology can reasonably make that claim. What I can do is use what I have learned to help put a client in a better position than they were in before.
Sometimes Technology Has to Adapt to Life
There is another reason I have become interested in AI-assisted video and audio.
I live in a household with five other people. At times, the noise level can be too high to conduct a one-on-one meeting—or even to record a video properly.
That has affected how I work.
I recently invested in a bedside table for my laptop because I cannot always use my desktop. Before heading down the WP / AI / YT avenue, I had already set up a green screen and camcorder for video production. That approach soon proved difficult because of noise and other activity in the living room.
Now there is a playpen in the living room as well.
So I began looking more seriously at AI-assisted video and audio for YouTube.
Perhaps you are in a similar situation.
Maybe technology is not difficult because you don’t understand it. Maybe life itself is getting in the way of how you would like to use it.
That is something worth considering when developing a website, a business or an online presence.
Technology has to work within the reality of people’s lives.
Your Story
My story is readily available at arcolq.com. But what is your story?
Where are you now, where do you want to go, and how can technology help you get there? That is the road I am exploring with WordPress, AI and YouTube. Perhaps I can help you along the way. Step by step, I can help you improve your online presence. Through ongoing meetings, we’ll determine the road that is ahead — and what your priorities are.
