I am a web designer and developer based here in Vancouver. After completing my technology programs at BCIT, I honestly thought my journey through the different areas of technology had largely concluded.
I was wrong.
If the use of technology teaches you anything, it is that it never really stops evolving. Technologies change, new platforms appear, and areas that once seemed unrelated can suddenly become part of the same workflow. Little did I think that artificial intelligence would become something I would use alongside WordPress — or that YouTube would become an important part of how I approach technology and instruction.
Following My Interests
Since I first started at BCIT, many of the projects I worked on were connected to my personal interests. Cooking, history and travelling were three of them, but they were certainly not the only subjects I considered putting into a website, application or eventually a YouTube channel.
Some of those interests go all the way back to high school.
Over time, however, I have come to a different conclusion. Rather than trying to build a single place around every interest I have, it makes more sense to focus on areas that connect directly with my experience and where I can continue learning.
For me, that means web technology.
WordPress is particularly interesting because it provides a natural continuation of the work I was doing through ARC Web Design between 2011 and 2015. It also provides a practical way of bringing together the technologies I have worked with over the years, with some of the newer tools that are now becoming available.
And those newer tools include AI and YouTube.
From Exploration to Newfound Direction
Since December 2025, I have considered several possibilities for YouTube. Some were deliberately different from one another:
2025
- Alfred the Fisherman — animation
- Gaming — D&D
2026
- Music composition
- Web design and development
- Game design and development
Each of these reflects a genuine interest, but they also helped clarify something important: a channel needs a clear reason for existing.
That realization has helped bring my web technology interests into sharper focus.
My portfolio at arcolq.com documents web design work spanning 2011–2015, 2018–2020, and more recent work. Across those years, my development experience has included PHP, JavaScript, C and C++. PHP is particularly relevant here because WordPress itself is built with PHP.
The technology may have changed, but the underlying idea has not: learn how the technology works, understand what it can do, and then find practical ways to use it.
Now AI and YouTube have joined that equation.
WordPress, AI and YouTube
This is where my next project begins.
I am heading in a new direction around three connected areas:
WordPress. AI. YouTube.
The goal is not simply to talk about these technologies individually. It is to explore how they can be used together.
I want to work through WordPress from the ground up, using modern tools and AI where they are useful. From there, YouTube becomes another part of the process — both as a publishing platform and as something that can be incorporated into a modern web presence.
For someone running a business today, a website does not have to be viewed simply as a collection of HTML, CSS and JavaScript files. Those technologies remain important, but the modern web provides considerably more tools and possibilities.
That is where WP Solutions comes in.
At wpsolutions.com, I want to explore and provide support around this three-part learning curve: WordPress, AI and YouTube — while keeping the emphasis on practical use of WordPress for business.
This is not about abandoning the technologies I learned previously. It is about building upon them.
The journey through web technology did not end when I finished my studies at BCIT.
It simply moved on to the next stage.
